Our Veynou Muse Michelle des Bouillons
Michelle des Bouillons was born in Rio de Janeiro and comes from a family with surfing in its blood. From a young age she built her own surfboards together with her father and spent her youth in the waves of Rio at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain. Her roots and her bond with our oceans made her an active protector of the world's seas early on.
Today Michelle is one of only a few women who call the biggest waves in the world home each year, such as in Nazaré, where waves of up to 30 meters are not uncommon and where she proves all her skill and courage. An extreme sport that demands extraordinary trust in one's own abilities and exceptional mental strength.
Uniting Performance, Courage and a Bond with Nature
As the designer of her own surfboards, she carries on the tradition created by her father. Just like us at Veynou, Michelle cares deeply about using recycled materials in the making of her surfboards - materials that also withstand the demands of the sea. The perfect symbiosis of sustainability and performance.

Nazaré is the meeting point for the world's best big wave surfers, like Michelle. The Portuguese town lies directly on the Atlantic. At the rocky outcrop of the São Miguel Arcanjo fortress, people from all over the world come together to take in the spectacular views and watch waves of up to 30 meters.
